THE REVI FACILITY:

THE MOST NATURAL WAY TO GROW INDOORS

After seeing the complexity of high-tech farming systems and their reliance on urban infrastructures, services, supplies, parts and digital connectivity, it made us rethink their direction. We deconstructed every aspect of indoor farming requirements and developed REVI, it’s ‘the most natural way to grow indoors’™.

REVI is our brainchild for rugged, enduring and dependable food production for remote and northern communities. We utilize 2,000 year old technologies, time tested and proven, by plants and people alike. Here’s the science behing the design.

  • We utilize 100% reusable biochar substrate inspired from the ancient, 2,000 year old, Terra Preta soils of Indigenous Amazonian farmers.

    The biochar is charged with a combination of conventional and natural compost fertilizers that support the root and microbial ecosystem for better taste and nutrition.

    Planting in biochar is easy; furrow, place seeds, and cover. It is accessible to a wide range of skills, ages nd physical abilities.

    REVI encourages natural companion plantings of root and shoot vegetables, leafy greens, herbs and legumes together.

    The combination of crops grown is completely customizable to the community REVI serves.

    Waste management is simplified as all non-harvested plant material (roots, etc.) are composted to be utilized again as part of the natural fertilizer infusion.

  • Every part of the REVI facility serves multiple purposes to make the most efficient use of space.

    REVI’s exterior is a ruggedized grain bin, with incremental foot prints from 2-5 stories high. We insulate it against extreme cold or heat, creating an easily managed indoor farming environment.

    Erected with local construction and expert oversight, REVI can be placed anywhere and handle everything from seeding to shipping in one integrated, customizable facility.

  • REVI eases farm maintenance by embodying a 'toolbox fixable' philosophy with simple tools, readily available parts, and limited reliance on electronics making it ideal for remote locations.

    REVI passively protects crops even if a power failure occurs (up to several days) and is built with northern and remote contingencies in mind.

    REVI incorporates 2,000 year old devices like water clocks, gravity and wicks for water distribution to troughs of biochar and plants.

    The individual towers are isolated from their neighbours to minimize insect and disease outbreaks.

    The tower and trough design promotes air circulation and exchange, greatly reducing air handling equipment requirements and complexity.

    Two separate, full spectrum, industrial lighting systems are incorporated into each tower for redundancy.

    A simple enterprise management softwarre program tracks production and produces daily work, maintenance and shipping orders for the workers. Operators will know the stage, intended customer, and shipping date for every plant and the status of the facility overall.
